Day 1-2

Day 1: Journey to North of Bali

Upon arrival in Bali, leave the crowds behind and set your sights on the serene north. Munduk, nestled in the island’s highlands, is a haven of natural beauty and tranquility. The drive itself is a treat, winding through verdant rice terraces, local villages, and misty mountains.

On the way to Munduk you have a few spots on the way you can stop at like the Leke Leke or Nung Nung waterfall.

Once you reach Munduk, check into a cozy hillside retreat, where charming accommodations blend harmoniously with the surrounding tropical greenery. The air here feels fresher, cooler, and filled with the scent of blooming flora.

In the afternoon, visit the Handara Gate, a striking structure framed by emerald-green mountains. This iconic spot, often seen on postcards and Instagram, is not just a photographer’s paradise but also a gateway to the serene spirit of northern Bali.

Day 2: Discover Munduk’s Natural Beauty

Begin your day with an invigorating trek through lush jungles to the stunning Munduk Waterfall. As you approach, the sound of cascading water grows louder, building anticipation. When you finally catch sight of the waterfall, it feels like stepping into a fairytale—mist rises from the pool below, and the surrounding greenery glistens in the morning light.

Next, head to the breathtaking Sekumpul waterfall, the waterfall consists of multiple streams tumbling down a sheer cliff surrounded by dense tropical forest. The trek to the falls is an adventure in itself, taking you through winding paths, small streams, and vibrant greenery.

Once you reach the base, the sight of the cascading water and the cool mist in the air creates a magical experience. It’s the perfect moment to pause, take in the beauty of nature, and capture some unforgettable memories.

Note: If you want to see more spots near Munduk, you can also explore the Banyumala Twin Waterfall, an idyllic temple called Pura Ulun Danu Beratan Bedugul, the Twin Lakes, Tamblingan and Buyan.

Day 3-4

Day 3: Arrival in Ubud

Start your day with a visit to one of northern Bali’s iconic landmarks:

  • Banyumala Twin Waterfall: Nestled amidst lush greenery, these twin waterfalls are a peaceful retreat. The refreshing pool at the base is perfect for a rejuvenating dip, while the serene atmosphere invites moments of quiet reflection.
  • Ulun Danu Beratan Temple: Perched on the shores of Lake Beratan, this picturesque water temple is a spiritual and architectural gem. The temple’s reflection on the lake, framed by misty mountains, creates a scene of unparalleled beauty.
  • Twin Lakes – Tamblingan and Buyan: If you haven’t visited the Twin Lakes yet, this is another chance to soak in their panoramic views. The tranquil setting and surrounding forests make this spot a photographer’s dream.

Choose one or more of these locations to begin your day surrounded by Bali’s natural wonders.

After your morning exploration, travel south to Ubud, a town brimming with creativity, culture, and spirituality. Along the way, the landscapes shift from misty highlands to the iconic terraced rice fields that Bali is known for.

Upon arrival, check into a charming guesthouse set amidst lush rice terraces. The peaceful surroundings offer a perfect contrast to Ubud’s lively streets, making it an ideal spot to unwind.

In the evening, take a stroll through the lively Ubud Market, where you can browse for handmade crafts, textiles, and souvenirs. The market is full of color and energy, giving you a taste of local life.

End the day with dinner at a nearby warung (traditional eatery), where you can try local dishes like nasi goreng (fried rice) or mie goreng (fried noodles). It’s a relaxed and flavorful way to wrap up your first day in Ubud.

Day 4: Ubud’s Highlights

Start your day with a visit to the Tegallalang Rice Terrace, one of Bali’s most famous landscapes. The terraces, with their cascading green fields and ingenious irrigation system, are a symbol of Bali’s cultural heritage. Take a leisurely walk along the paths and learn about the traditional subak system used by local farmers.

Make your way to one of the beautiful waterfalls around Ubud like Tukat Cepung Waterfall. Unlike many of Bali’s waterfalls, Tukad Cepung is located inside a cave-like gorge. Sunlight filters through the narrow openings above, creating dramatic rays that illuminate the cascading water and the surrounding moss-covered walls. The play of light and water is almost otherworldly, especially during the morning hours.

Next, head to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, a lush jungle home to playful macaques and ancient temples. Stroll through the sanctuary and enjoy the serene yet lively atmosphere as you encounter Bali’s wildlife.

Afterward, delve into Ubud’s rich art scene by visiting local galleries and workshops. From traditional paintings to intricate wood carvings, you’ll get a glimpse of the craftsmanship that has defined Balinese art for generations.

In the afternoon, take a peaceful walk on the Campuhan Ridge Walk, a scenic trail offering panoramic views of the surrounding hills and rice fields. It’s a great way to unwind and take in Ubud’s natural beauty.

End the day with a traditional Balinese dance performance at the Ubud Royal Palace. The elegant movements, vibrant costumes, and rhythmic gamelan music make this a must-see cultural experience.

Day 6-7

Day 6: Ferry to Nusa Penida

Today, you’ll leave Bali’s mainland behind and head to Nusa Penida, a beautiful island known for its amazing scenery and laid-back atmosphere.

Start your day with a ferry ride from Sanur Beach to Nusa Penida. The ride takes about 30–45 minutes, giving you a chance to enjoy the views of the ocean as you make your way to the island.

Once you arrive on Nusa Penida, check into your beachside accommodation. Many places to stay on the island are right by the water, so you can enjoy ocean views and a relaxing vibe.

Spend the rest of the day taking it easy or get a scooter or private driver to discover some of the beautiful places Nusa Penida offers. When you are up for something special you can also get a tour to see the Manta Rays that are often seen at the coast of Nusa Penida. Head out for a snorkeling adventure at Manta Point, where you can swim alongside graceful manta rays in their natural habitat. It’s an unforgettable experience for marine life enthusiasts.

Day 7: Discover Nusa Penida

Start your day with a visit to the stunning Kelingking Beach, known for its dramatic T-Rex-shaped cliff and turquoise waters below. Snap some photos from the viewpoint or, if you’re feeling adventurous, hike down the steep trail to the beach. The way down is kind of scetchy and be sure to wear good shoes.

Drive further up the coast to reach Diamond beach and the famous tree House. It will get very crowded during the day but it is still very beautiful.

Next, visit Broken Beach a natural archway carved into the cliff, offering spectacular views of the ocean.

Just a short walk from Broken Beach you will find Angels Billan´bong an infinity pool formed by crystal-clear water flowing into a rock lagoon. When the tide is low, you can dip your feet into the calm waters and marvel at its vibrant green and blue hues.

Day 8-10

Day 8: Ferry to Lombok

Start your day by catching the Speed Boat to Lombok. The ride takes a few hours, and can get quite bumpy depending on the weather conditions.

Once you arrive in Lombok, head to your accommodation. Choose from a beachfront resort with sweeping ocean views or a cozy villa nestled in lush tropical greenery. Both options offer the perfect place to unwind and embrace Lombok’s tranquil atmosphere.

Days 9: Lombok’s Natural Wonders

Lombok is a paradise for nature lovers, offering stunning beaches, waterfalls, and tranquil landscapes. Over the next two days, you’ll explore some of the island’s most beautiful spots, with plenty of opportunities to unwind and connect with nature.

Start your day early and embark on a scenic trek to Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep Waterfalls in the Senaru area. The trek takes you through lush forests and past flowing streams, leading to these stunning waterfalls. At Tiu Kelep, you’ll be able to swim in the refreshing waters of the pool beneath the falls. The natural beauty of these waterfalls is awe-inspiring and one of Lombok’s must-see attractions.

In the afternoon you can explore Lombok’s northern beaches. Senggigi Beach is a great place to relax, with calm waters perfect for swimming and a laid-back atmosphere. Afterward, head to Tanjung Aan Beach, known for its soft white sand and crystal-clear waters. It’s a quieter spot ideal for lounging, swimming, or taking a peaceful walk along the shore.
