One of the best ways to experience Mount Etna is through a guided tour. Knowledgeable guides will take you to the best viewpoints, explain the geology and history of the volcano, and ensure your safety. Tours range from easy walks to more strenuous hikes.
For those who want to see more, take the cable car from Rifugio Sapienza up to 2,500 meters, and then continue by jeep to the Torre del Filosofo area at around 2,900 meters. From there, you can explore the craters and enjoy stunning panoramic views.
Etna offers numerous hiking trails for all levels of fitness. Starting from Rifugio Sapienza, you can hike around the Silvestri Craters or trek up to the higher craters. From Piano Provenzana, explore the lava fields and forest trails, or hike up to the craters on this less touristy side of Etna.
